Read this first — what a row is, and what it is not

1. An exhibit puts what different channels wrote on screen for the same story side by side, quoted verbatim from the chyron record, each line carrying its own Internet Archive clip. Follow the clip and check it — that is what it is there for.
2. A silence row is a count, never an accusation. A zero means no banner in the captured chyron record for that broadcast day — it does not mean the network never said the words on air. Chyrons are on-screen text only; a story can be discussed at length and never banner.
3. The BBC is an international broadcaster. Its zeros on US-domestic stories are expected and are not comparable to a US cable network’s zero on the same row.
4. These rows are the ones the desk’s nightly report flagged as worth noting — a selected set, not a random sample of all stories. The rate below is a rate within that selection and nothing more. Chyron text is OCR and carries its errors; they are left exactly as recorded.
