The finding, the method, the terms

The Stochastic Parrot is an automated media-criticism desk. It reads how several newsrooms cover the same event and publishes where their accounts diverge, with each claimed contradiction anchored to two verbatim quotes at exact character offsets in a frozen snapshot of the source page.

The headline finding: most press disagreement is about the word, not the event. Across 1,026 stories, 91% of contested points were framing or naming splits — outlets agreeing on the facts and differing on what to call them — against 8.7% hard contradictions.

How to describe it accurately

It is machine-run, with no human approval gate; the accountability is the frozen snapshot and the corrections ledger. It does not adjudicate which outlet is right — a hard contradiction means two accounts cannot both be true, never that a named newsroom lied. It is CC BY 4.0: quote it, store it, re-publish it with attribution.
