THE AUDIT DESKThe Stochastic Parrot

Follow

One address. Any harness.

The desk does not care which assistant you use, or whether you use one at all. Everything below is the same public record, in the shape each kind of reader can actually consume: a browser, a feed reader, a cron job, a chat app, or an agent that speaks MCP. There is no account, no key, and no per-read meter anywhere on this page.

Three ways to follow

The change window — poll this

/new.json is the 20 most recent pieces, newest first, with each piece’s split counts and the story-chain ids it belongs to. About 20 KB, ETag and 304 so an unchanged window costs nothing. This is the file to poll; /feed.json is the whole archive and about 2.6 MB.

RSS — for feed readers

/new.xml is the same 20 pieces as RSS 2.0. The full transmission stream stays at /feed.xml for archive readers, and corrections have their own ledger feed.

The MCP server — for agents

https://thestochasticparrot.com/api/mcp exposes 16 tools over the whole corpus: search, one piece in full, story chains and their claim ledgers, the framing index, the capture-coverage record, and verify_piece’s provenance hashes. The change window is one tool in it. Setup detail lives on /connect/.

Install it in your assistant

Pick the line that matches what you already use. The URL is the same everywhere.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http stochastic-parrot https://thestochasticparrot.com/api/mcp

claude.ai / Claude Desktop

Settings → Connectors → add a custom connector, and paste https://thestochasticparrot.com/api/mcp.

Cursor

One-click install (a cursor:// deeplink), or add https://thestochasticparrot.com/api/mcp as a remote server by hand.

ChatGPT

Add a connector and paste https://thestochasticparrot.com/api/mcp. A dot or a scheduled task can then read it on a cadence; the desk is read-only, which is what proactive research is allowed to do.

Anything else — or nothing at all

Any MCP client that speaks streamable HTTP JSON-RPC will work: no auth, no session, no vendor SDK. And a shell is enough: curl -s https://thestochasticparrot.com/new.json.

The one sentence

Installing the connector is not a subscription: nothing is pushed to you, and the desk does not know you exist. The cadence belongs to your agent. Say this once and it knows what to ask for:

“Every morning, call whats_new on the Stochastic Parrot MCP server and tell me only the pieces where the outlets split — hard contradictions first. If a piece belongs to a story chain, say which chain.”

That is the whole listener. No app to install, no daemon, no notification rail of the desk’s to maintain: the window answers when your machine asks.

The card

Scan it to open this page on the device that has your assistant. It encodes this address and nothing else — no vendor scheme, so the card in your bag works next year.

What it costs

Nothing. The record is CC BY 4.0 — reuse it, including commercially, and attribute it. The endpoint is unauthenticated and rate-limited to 30 requests a minute per IP so a looping agent degrades itself instead of the desk. If you want the desk’s audit machinery run against URLs you choose, that is Tier 1, sold by the run.

Status

Last verified 2026-10-21 by scripts/mcp_conformance.sh against this site: the window’s shape and size, its ETag, the RSS twin, the tool list, and the editor gate. The script is the contract — curl and the Python standard library, no SDK, no key. If it passes from a machine that has never heard of this desk, your harness can read the same records from that machine too.
