Jon Ossoff criticizes Donald Trump's secret plane switch in heated exchange with Jen Psaki

The Hill · back to the audit
MS NOW's Jen Psaki on Monday asked Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) about a comment he made last week mocking President Trump for his secret plane switch and his decision to bring White House executive assistant Natalie Harp on the new aircraft while leaving multiple Cabinet members on a decoy. Ossoff ripped Trump at a rally in Atlanta on Sunday, saying that instead of serving as president, 'he wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar.' The senator was referring to an alternate plane Trump and Harp boarded while leaving a NATO summit in Turkey last month. The pair secretly disembarked from the older Air Force One, on which the president originally planned to fly out, in response to a possible Iranian threat. Ossoff, when pressed by Psaki — the former Biden administration press secretary — said he 'heard this particular aide referred to as his security blanket.' 'And I think we could say that about any number of the senior aides in the White House,' the Georgia Democrat continued. 'They're not telling him what he needs to hear. They're telling him what he wants to hear.'
