WARNING 118-26 - HIJACK. Incident Date: 20 Aug 2026. Incident Time: TBC. "UKMTO has received a report of an incident 136NM east of Al Mukalla, Yemen. A tanker has broadcast a distress call on VHF 16 that they have been approached by an unauthorised vessel whilst travelling west in the Gulf of Aden." Update 001: "UKMTO have received confirmation that t[he tanker has been boarded by six armed persons who are now in control of the vessel]" (page text truncated at fetch). Advisories are notices to mariners, not attribution documents: UKMTO names no vessel, no flag, no actor type beyond 'unauthorised vessel' and 'armed persons'. Earlier advisory #114-26 (17 Aug 2026) records the boarding of the cargo vessel Lutuf 4NM south of Mareeyo, Somalia: "The CSO of a cargo vessel reports being boarded by 8 armed unauthorised persons". Advisory #90-26 (17 July 2026, a DIFFERENT incident, 65NM south of Al Mukalla, tanker transiting east) is the source text often conflated with this week's hijack.
