Five Americans are dead following a helicopter crash in a remote area of northern Kenya, the U.S. State Department confirmed in a statement to NBC News on Wednesday. A State Department spokesperson confirmed the deaths of five Americans, saying the U.S. Embassy is in touch with local authorities and is providing consular assistance. "We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones on their loss," the spokesperson said. José Suárez, the president and general manager of multiple Telemundo-owned stations in Florida, was among the dead. Ecuador's National Assembly confirmed in a statement that Michele Sensi-Contugi Ycaza, director general of the country's national intelligence center, and his wife, Stephany Hollihan Vásconez, died in the crash. Miami restaurateur Roger Edward Duarte was also among the crash victims, according to a statement from his family.
