Lindsay Clancy testimony ends earlier than expected Wednesday due to 'unforeseen circumstance'
Lindsay Clancy's trial continued Wednesday in Massachusetts, though testimony for the day ended earlier than expected. The defense is now expected to call one more witness Thursday before potentially resting its case and giving the prosecution an opportunity to call rebuttal witnesses.
Dr. Paul Zeizel, the defense's forensic psychologist, completed cross-examination Wednesday.
"Lindsay Clancy has bad days and worse days," Zeizel said.
She "had no appreciation for the wrongfulness of her act," Zeizel said.
On her intrusive thoughts after her McLean Hospital discharge, Zeizel said "they were getting worse and they were telling her to kill herself."
After the lunch break, Judge Sullivan dismissed jurors for the day "due to an unforeseen circumstance," telling them: "You're not to speculate about what it is, you're not to hold it against either side." The cause was not disclosed.
Zeizel also said she "really loved them, and misses them, and thinks of them every single day." Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham challenged Zeizel's objectivity, and noted Clancy never described the intrusive thoughts to her doctors as a voice telling her to kill herself.
