Government's Motion for Reconsideration (primary court filing, U.S. District Court for D.C., Case No. 26-mj-00140) · back to the audit
GOVERNMENT'S MOTION FOR RECONSIDERATION OF THE COURT'S DENIAL OF THE GOVERNMENT'S REQUEST FOR DETENTION

The United States of America, by and through its attorney, the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, respectfully submits this motion for reconsideration of the Court's denial of the Government's request for pre-trial detention of Melissa Farris (hereinafter "Defendant").

On August 17, 2026, the Court denied the government's oral request for detention and released Defendant without imposing electronic monitoring or a third-party custodian. Because the Government believes Defendant is a risk of flight and that the conditions imposed by the Court are insufficient to ensure her compliance and future appearance, it respectfully moves the Court for reconsideration of Defendant's release. The Government further requests the Court add electronic monitoring and a suitable third-party custodian to its release conditions.
