Aug. 7 (UPI) -- The Defense Department on Friday revoked Frank Kendall's access to classified information, accusing the former secretary of leaking.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said Frank was the source who told reporters about the new Qatari-gifted Air Force One. Parnell said the department revoked the former secretary's "eligibility for access to classified information and his ability to hold any sensitive position." "This action follows his unauthorized disclosure of classified information regarding Air Force One's capabilities to a media outlet." "Safeguarding classified information is a non-negotiable duty." "Those who violate that trust forfeit the privilege of access and any role requiring it."

When asked about the new Qatari jet, Kendall told CNN it would take three to four years to get the plane on-par with the previous jet.

The New York Times first reported the Qatari-gifted Boeing 747-8 (a $400 million gift) lacked advanced security features such as antimissile capabilities despite retrofitting.
