The date for a new round of talks in Rome in early September has yet to be confirmed. With the Lebanese delegation having laid out its conditions, the ball is now in Israel's court.

What L'Orient-Le Jour has learned: A source close to the Lebanese delegation's leadership in the direct negotiations with Israel says Lebanon will not take part in the next round of talks - scheduled for early September - unless its conditions are met. The exact date has yet to be set, as Beirut has made its participation in the upcoming session conditional on Israel accepting its demands. Lebanon is notably maintaining its demand to establish new "pilot zones" and continues to propose Khiam and Bint Jbeil in this context.

"There will be no new negotiations unless Israel accepts Lebanon's conditions, which also include a full cease-fire and an end to the destruction and earthworks being carried out by the Israeli army," the source said.

Lebanon is thus making its continued participation in the negotiation conditional on the acceptance of its demands.
