U.S. Senate passes stopgap spending bill without Trump priorities

Bloomberg (via Yahoo Finance Canada) · back to the audit
The U.S. Senate approved a short-term spending bill intended to prevent a government shutdown before November's midterm elections, leaving out President Donald Trump's requests for Iran war funding and new voter identification measures. Senators passed the measure in a 90-6 vote. The measure covers the period from the start of the new fiscal year on October 1 through December 11. Democrats provided the votes needed to overcome a filibuster. Sen. Susan Collins called passage a "major step toward averting a damaging shutdown that only harms vital programs and federal workers."
