Senator says he sent daughter to safe location amid Max Miller abuse allegations: report

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Ohio GOP Sen. Bernie Moreno said that he sent away his daughter, granddaughter and wife to a safe location amid the abuse allegations against his former son-in-law Rep. Max Miller.

"Re the custody battle between his daughter and Rep Max Miller, R-Oh, Sen Bernie Moreno, R-Oh, tells me 'I sent my daughter, granddaughter, and wife out of State to a secure place until such time as they feel safe,'" CNN anchor Jake Tapper wrote on the social media platform, X.

Miller faces abuse allegations from his ex-wife. Sen. Moreno's daughter Emily Moreno has accused Max of fracturing the collarbone of the two-year-old daughter they share together and physically abusing her.

Miller has denied all the allegations and will not drop his re-election bid despite the White House privately urging him to do so.

He is currently under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, which has stated that Miller "may have engaged in domestic violence abuse or illegal drug use."

When asked about Miller, House Speaker Mike Johnson said that he wants the House Ethics committee investigation to "play out" and that it's not his business to get involved in family matters.

During an interview with TMZ earlier this week, Moreno said that Emily and Miller have to arrange pick up and drop off times for their daughter that they have together.

"Just this Sunday I had to go," Moreno said. "Imagine this. I had to go pick her up because I don't want my daughter interacting with this man. So I meet him at the Bay Village police station because that's the place that we have to go to meet because I don't know what this guy's capable of."
