Sen. Moreno Reveals He Sent Family to 'Secure Place Out of State' to Protect Them from Rep. Max Miller
Sen. Bernie Moreno revealed on Thursday that he sent his family to a "secure place out of state" to protect them from Rep. Max Miller.
Moreno, the father of Miller's ex-wife Emily Moreno, told CNN's Jake Tapper: "I sent my daughter, granddaughter, and wife out of State to a secure place until such time as they feel safe."
Miller said this isn't true and showed CNN emails showing his ex-wife communicating flight information to him and allowing him a visit with their daughter before they left if he could make it.
Moreno on Aug. 2 wrote on X: "He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter," and urged Miller to "seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake."
Emily Moreno has accused Miller of holding a gun to her head, throwing scalding hot water on her, pushing her into a wall, and fracturing their two-year-old daughter's collarbone. Miller denies all allegations.
The deadline for a special election to be triggered in his district was Wednesday, but he still has until Monday to drop out, with the opportunity for the Republican nominee to be replaced on the November ballot.
