LEE CARTER: Election shocker: The winners had a slogan; the losers just had résumés

Tuesday night, the left won. The right won. The establishment won. The insurgents won. In other words, nobody won. Except for the message. From Michigan to Missouri, candidates with clear promises defeated opponents who led with credentials. Former "Squad" member Cori Bush warned that billionaires and outside interests were trying to control her district. Her opponent, Wesley Bell, answered with six words: "Progressives are supposed to make progress." Bush offered an enemy. Bell offered a standard. The same dynamic appeared in Missouri, although ideology changed costumes. Consider Abdul El-Sayed, who defeated Rep. Haley Stevens in Michigan's Democratic Senate primary.
