On the national implications of the Texas Governor's race, Hinojosa told CNN, Republicans in Texas said they're coming back next year to redraw maps after the gutting of the Voting Rights Act by the U.S. Supreme Court. When that happens, we will lose five Democrats in Congress.

Hinojosa added, Two years later, we will gain another 4 to 5 seats in Congress because we're growing faster than other states. And because congressional seats equate to electoral votes, there can be no Democratic control of the White House. The fate of the union depends on Texas - that's what this election is about.
