Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and Democratic state Rep. Gina Hinojosa were projected to win their respective primaries for Texas governor on Tuesday, setting up a November showdown.

Recent polling has signaled an uphill fight for Hinojosa, though she's come within single digits of the incumbent on the campaign trail.

A University of Houston survey this week found Abbott up with 49 percent to the Democrat's 42 percent in a hypothetical general election, and a University of Texas at Tyler poll found Abbott with 49 percent to Hinojosa's 41 percent.
