Trump Melts Down as Progressive Officially Wins Key Senate Race

CRYING WOLF -- The marquee Senate race could change the balance of power in Congress.

Donald Trump claimed election fraud in Michigan as a progressive firebrand won a marquee Senate race that could change the balance of power in Congress.

Trump: "Get ready for another Rigged Election" (Truth Social, before the race was called; also falsely claimed he "won Michigan three times")

Trump: "El-Sayed, a Communist loser who hates Jews and Israel, is the projected winner in his race with the Socialist." (Truth Social, after the call; he also wrote "As usual, the Polls were way off on this one.")

Trump: "VOTE FOR MIKE ROGERS, and make Michigan TOO BIG TO RIG." (Truth Social; in the same post he alleged Wayne County/Detroit is "one of the most corrupt voting areas in the United States" and warned of "fake mail-in ballots")

Stevens concession: "I want to congratulate Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a Rhodes Scholar, and a dedicated Michigander."

El-Sayed (election-night speech): "If we come through this--when we come through this--inshallah." Ted Cruz is quoted reacting: "They want Sharia law, they hate Jews, they hate Christians, they hate capitalism, they hate America!"

Laura Loomer called El-Sayed's use of "inshallah" "Disgusting".

The race was among the most closely watched of the 2026 midterms, seen as a proxy war for the Democratic Party's future. El-Sayed led early counting, Wayne County votes favored Stevens, and AP/CNN/Fox projected El-Sayed shortly after 10 am. Most expensive Democratic primary in party history with more than $60 million in outside spending, most of it aimed at electing Stevens. Rogers is a former FBI agent and ex-Congressman who echoed Trump's baseless claims about the 2024 Michigan Senate race being stolen.
