Iranian MP says Trump approach to negotiations 'contradictory and unreliable'. A member of the Iranian parliament's national security committee has called Trump's approach to negotiations with Iran "contradictory and unreliable".

Esmail Kowsari told Iranian broadcaster IRIB that Trump claimed 75 times that the Strait of Hormuz was open, when it actually wasn't.

Kowsari also said Trump has spoken of "Iran's defeat" 106 times and claimed an "imminent deal" with Tehran 88 times.

Trump said late on Tuesday a deal with Iran could come within hours, but Tehran has repeatedly denied having direct negotiations with Washington.

Shipping traffic in Hormuz remains severely limited. Shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandeb did not change on Tuesday compared with the previous day, the Reuters news agency reports, citing figures from Kpler, a shipping data firm. It said eight vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz, including five tankers and three bulk carriers, the same as the previous day. Six of the vessels, three tankers and three bulk carriers, were entering the strait, while a gas carrier and a tanker were exiting. Roughly 130 to 140 ships would typically transit the waterway before the US-Israel war on Iran began on February 28 and Iran responded by closing the strait.
