Trump says talks with Iran will start Monday on deal to reopen Hormuz

The Times of Israel · back to the audit
US President Donald Trump said Sunday night that negotiations with Iran would begin on Monday to finalize a deal that reopens the Strait of Hormuz. Trump told reporters: "We're talking to them in the form of a negotiation. It begins tomorrow afternoon." Trump: "I'd love to do that. We'd save a lot of lives, save a lot of unnecessary power." Trump described the planned attack as "the biggest attack since World War II." Trump quoted Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman: "we would much prefer a deal as opposed to an attack, because you don't know where these attacks lead." Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said the strait "will in no way return to the status it was before February 28."
