Marquette Poll: Huge Support For Hong, Socialism

MacIver Institute · back to the audit
The latest Marquette Law School Poll shows that Democrats really like both Francesca Hong and socialism. The poll, released Wednesday, reveals Hong commanding a substantial lead among Democratic primary voters for governor. According to the results, "Hong is the choice of 26% [of voters], followed by former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes with 15%," with 45% remaining undecided. Hong's strength concentrates among liberal voters. The data indicates that "58% of very liberal voters support Hong, as do 26% of liberal voters. However, just 8% of moderates support Hong." The poll examined views on socialism among Democrats. Results showed "82% of very liberal, and 60% of liberal Democrats have a favorable view of socialism," compared to just 25% of moderate Democrats. Among all Wisconsin voters, enthusiasm for socialism drops significantly: "just 25% of all voters in Wisconsin have a favorable view of socialism, while 49% have an unfavorable view." Republicans showed minimal support, with only 1% favorable versus 84% unfavorable. The pollsters noted Hong's primary success correlates directly with voters' attitudes toward socialism and Democratic Socialist causes.
