Washington, Aug. 2 (SANA) Wildfires have burned more than 250,000 acres in Washington state, triggering widespread evacuations and power outages as an intense heatwave fuels fire danger across the U.S. West, authorities said on Sunday. Brown said about 200 homes had been evacuated in Spokane, adding that the number was expected to increase. 'These are large areas of the city, so I assume the number will be greater than that.' The public utility serving eastern Washington said about 60,000 customers were without electricity because of the fires. Washington Governor Bob Ferguson declared a state of emergency and imposed a ban on most outdoor burning through the end of September.
