Miriam Adelson pledges $250 million for a third Trump term at White House Hanukkah party

US President Donald Trump said that Miriam Adelson pledged $250 million, as the pair teased a third term for the president at the White House annual Hanukkah candle-lighting on Tuesday.

"Miriam gave my campaign, indirectly and directly, $250 million, she was number one," the president said. "When somebody can give you $250 million, I think that we should give her the opportunity to say hello. And Miriam, make it quick, because $250 million is not what it used to be."

"I met Alan Dershowitz, and he said the legal thing about four more years," Adelson said in a brief speech. "And I say, Alan, I agree with you. So, we can do it, think about it."

"She said, 'Think about it, I'll give you another $250 million,'" Trump announced to the audience. "I will give," Adelson said.

The crowd broke into chants of "four more years." Alan Dershowitz, the renowned attorney and constitutional scholar, according to a Wall Street Journal report, handed the president a draft copy of his book on the constitutionality of a third term during an Oval Office meeting, telling Trump the Constitution 'is not clear' on whether he can serve a third term.

Trump said in October he would not pursue a third term, but has also teased the idea of running again. "If you read it, it's pretty clear, I'm not allowed to run. It's too bad," Trump said at the time.

Dershowitz told the WSJ that he handed billionaire Trump supporter Miriam Adelson a copy of his book. While glancing at the book, she said, 'Is this real? Oh my god, I hope this can happen.'
