Sen. Roger Marshall to Newsmax: Fauci Must Face Accountability

Newsmax · back to the audit
Dr. Anthony Fauci must be held accountable for telling Americans information about COVID-19 that was different from what he wrote in his diary, Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., told Newsmax on Tuesday.

Appearing on Newsmax's 'Wake Up America,' Marshall, a physician, said newly released excerpts from Fauci's diary raise questions about the former White House COVID adviser's public statements during the pandemic and his testimony before Congress.

'We need to hold Anthony Fauci accountable,' he said. 'We lost over a million Americans to COVID. We had 20 million Americans with long COVID. So we need to know the truth here.'

Marshall pointed to diary entries released by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., that appear to show Fauci privately estimating the virus' mortality rate at a fraction of what he later told Congress.

He argued Fauci 'exaggerated' the death rate 'by a multiple of 10.'

'He misled the president. He misled the American people, and then he obstructed Congress very consistently,' Marshall said. 'We see two different worlds here, the world in Anthony Fauci's diary versus what he was telling the American public.'

Marshall also accused Fauci of promoting the theory that COVID-19 originated at a Wuhan seafood market while allegedly knowing the virus may have originated at the nearby Wuhan Institute of Virology, a possibility that has gained increasing attention from federal investigators and intelligence agencies.
