Trump praises 'great' Netanyahu, says they're 'pretty close' on next Iran steps as Israeli PM travels to DC

New York Post · back to the audit
WASHINGTON -- President Trump insisted Monday that he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu 'did very well together' as the two men prepare to meet Tuesday to discuss Iran and other issues. 'Bibi has been great,' the president told reporters on Air Force One. 'He was a wartime prime minister. We did very well together.' Trump added that the two leaders 'have a little difference, but [are] pretty close' regarding what to do next in the nearly five-month-old conflict. You know who wouldn't survive without us? Israel,' Trump said. 'Bibi's coming, he'll tell you, if I didn't get involved and if I didn't blow up those nuclear weapons, Israel would have been terminated months ago.' Also Monday, Trump rejected Netanyahu's plea not to sell F-35 jets to Turkey, saying: 'Nobody tells me what we should be selling.' 'Turkey's not a big fan of Israel, not a great fan of Bibi,' he added. 'But they've been great for me.'
