Live updates: Trump delivers remarks in Michigan
President Donald Trump plans to tout his handling of the economy during a visit to suburban Detroit today. Despite Trump's claims, GM is not having its best year ever, and tariffs have cost the company billions of dollars. The company did collect a $500 million refund after the Supreme Court overturned some of Trump's tariffs earlier this year. Trump's speech today comes days after he levied tariffs of 10-12% on 60 countries while hitting Canada with tariffs as high as 50%, charging the country has been unfairly discriminating against various U.S. industries, including the auto industry. An anti-data center protest just broke out at Trump's event at the General Motors proving ground in Milford. The protesters unfurled yellow banners emblazoned with the slogan 'STOP DATA CENTERS' before they were escorted out.
