Berlin Pride attack: suspect named after one killed and 16 injured

Police are hunting for a man with Islamist links after at least one person was killed and 16 were injured when a van was driven into a crowd during Berlin's gay Pride festival on Saturday night.
Police clarified that the white van "didn't exactly hit the parade," but, because it drove through the park, "attacked the people who were going away from the parade".
Kai Wegner, the governing mayor of Berlin, condemned the incident as "an attack on our free and open society." He said: "Berlin is the city of freedom — and our freedom has been attacked in the most horrific way today."
Officers earlier said that "the suspected perpetrator is known to the police as a member of the Islamist scene here in Berlin."
