Fifth person dies in Upper East Side Legionnaires' outbreak
A fifth person has died in connection with the Legionnaires' outbreak on the Upper East Side, the city's Health Department said Tuesday evening.
As of Tuesday, there had been 82 reported cases of Legionnaires' disease associated with the outbreak, according to the Health Department's website - a number that was higher than the 76 reported on the website as of Monday. A first death in the outbreak was announced on Friday, a second death was announced on Saturday, a third death was announced on Sunday and a fourth death was announced on Monday.
Fifty-six people have been discharged from the hospital after being treated, according to the Health Department's website.
