Did Donald Trump get booed at World Cup? Here's the video from 2026 final to decide for yourself

Sporting News · back to the audit
FIFA president Gianni Infantino promised that U.S. president Donald Trump would help hand out medals and the World Cup trophy after the final at MetLife Stadium, but he wasn't the only dignitary to join in on the festivities.

Trump was joined by Mexico president Claudia Sheinbaum and Canadian prime minister Mark Carney as the three leaders of the host nations handed out the hardware to both Spain and Argentina.

Trump unsurprisingly received a loud reaction as he came out onto the field, but was he booed by the crowd?

Here's the video to judge for yourself.

Trump appeared to receive a mixed reaction from the crowd, which isn't a surprise given the game took place in a Democratic-leaning New York and New Jersey area. The crowd also appeared to favor Argentina, so it's entirely possible most fans weren't thrilled to see the start of a trophy presentation for the team that beat Argentina.

Trump helped hand out second-place medals to Argentina players before it was Spain's turn to be honored on stage following the victory in extra time.

The scene mimicked the 2025 Club World Cup final, when Trump lingered on stage as Chelsea lifted the trophy.
