Massie says Democratic support for cutting off aid to Israel 'a sign of shifting perceptions'.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said Thursday that widespread Democratic support in the House for an amendment to cut off U.S. aid to Israel is "a sign of shifting perceptions." "And I think it's a sign of shifting perceptions, not just among Americans, but also among their elected leaders here in Washington, D.C.," he added.

House Democrats split almost evenly on a Wednesday amendment to axe U.S. aid to Israel, signaling how the issue is changing the political dynamics in the party. Massie spearheaded the amendment, which was predicted to be a failed show vote.

The amendment failed in a 104-314 vote, with 103 Democrats backing it, 98 Democrats not supporting it and 10 voting present. Massie was the lone Republican vote for the amendment.

"Though my amendment to strike $3.3 billion in aid to Israel from the State Dept appropriations bill did not pass, 104 House Members voted in favor of it. The tide is changing. Americans want their tax dollars to be spent improving things here at home, not waging war and genocide," Massie said on the social platform X on Wednesday.
